The DY Patil Group is a multi-disciplinary, value-driven organization founded by PadmaShri Dr. D. Y. Patil. What began with the establishment of its first educational institution in Navi Mumbai, in 1983 has grown into a diverse enterprise spanning education, healthcare, agriculture, rural empowerment, sports, real estate, hospitality, research, media, and philanthropy.
Today, the Group encompasses 200+ educational institutions and multiple universities, guided by the principle “Knowledge is Supreme.” Through investments in education, healthcare, innovation, and community development, it remains committed to creating opportunities, empowering communities, and driving meaningful social impact.

At the heart of the DY Patil Group stands its founder, PadmaShri Dr. D. Y. Patil, an educationist, philanthropist, and nation-builder whose vision has transformed lives for over four decades. Guided by the belief that “Actions speak louder than words,” Dr. Patil dedicated his life to creating institutions that embody excellence, compassion, and service to society.
A firm advocate of “Knowledge is Supreme,” he viewed education as the most powerful instrument of social transformation. Driven by this conviction, he chose to devote himself fully to building educational institutions, moving beyond politics to pursue a larger mission of empowering future generations through learning. From establishing pioneering engineering and medical colleges to creating world-class universities, hospitals, and stadiums, his legacy is defined by the opportunities he created for individuals and communities alike.
Honored with the PadmaShri and having served as the Governor of Tripura and Bihar, Dr. Patil’s contributions extend beyond education into healthcare, sports, culture, and philanthropy. His work has left an indelible mark on India’s academic and social landscape, shaping generations of students, professionals, and leaders.
Today, his vision lives on through the DY Patil Group’s continued growth and global recognition. Every initiative from advancing research and innovation to expanding access to quality healthcare, rural empowerment and education remains a reflection of his lifelong mission to uplift society through excellence, integrity, and service.
